We could go farther, ride more trails, and tackle sections we couldn\u2019t before.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">And more and more friends started joining us along the way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">There was only one thing we all had in common, we genuinely loved riding mountain bikes.<\/p>\n<p>And that hasn\u2019t changed. man-made challenges that you just don\u2019t get on the natural trails we\u2019d been riding.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bluelug.live\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_1659.jpeg\"><img 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pump tracks, bermed corners, drops, these were seriously exciting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">We\u2019d already been jumping gaps between exposed roots and leaning hard into naturally formed dirt walls on the satoyama trails, but the park made us realize just how far our limits actually went.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, it was a place that made us want to push those limits even further.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bluelug.live\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_0925.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone completely different sense of what it meant to \u201cget air\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bluelug.live\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_1476.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" elbows, some sprained their wrists, and some had their shins torn open.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Santa took a hard slam straight onto his back, while I nearly had the handlebars go through my ribs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Once again, mountain biking is one hell of a gnarly way to have fun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">But for some reason, we never want to stop. But little by little, I started thinking, <em>\u201cWhat if this part of the handlebar were shaped differently? attention to was the <strong>backsweep and upsweep angles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">With existing mountain bike handlebars, I never quite felt that the angle of my wrists was right.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">I wanted an angle that would let me naturally rest my hands on the bars and lean into them more comfortably, while also putting me in a position that made it easier to pull the handlebars toward me and lift the front wheel.<\/p>\n<p>So I wanted to give the bar a slight sweep back and upward, creating a more natural and intuitive position for getting the front end up.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bluelug.live\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/20260918-DSC08608.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium handlebars.<\/p>\n<p>It was something I rediscovered through trial and error, playing around with different mounting angles while riding.<\/p>\n<p><a prototype.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">I almost went over the back and landed straight on my ass, though.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Based on everything I\u2019d experienced up to that point, I kept tweaking and refining the design, asking myself: <em>What would it take to overcome the hurdles I felt as a first-year mountain biker at the park?<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">What I arrived at is what I consider my <strong>golden ratio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">I believe this shape can help beginners take that next step and improve their skills.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s why I\u2019m finally putting it out into the world.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bluelug.live\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/DSC09492.jpeg\"><img striking looks of the Jam-Bar or the catchiness of the <span class=\"text-token-text-primary cursor-text rounded-sm\" data-placeholder-token=\"true\">Hi-Bar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>But for a handlebar designed specifically with mountain biking in mind, I think it ended up with a shape that\u2019s surprisingly refined\u2014less wild, and much sexier than you might expect.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bluelug.live\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_1489.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-182158\" src=\"https:\/\/bluelug.live\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_1489.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1200\" 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Built from the rider\u2019s own feedback and experience, I think it has become a worthy sibling to the original <strong>\u201cSYNC-BAR,\u201d<\/strong> the first Cent signature bar.<\/p>\n<p>It carries on that name while offering a truly intuitive, ride-and-feel kind of experience\u2014one where you can immediately understand what the bar is doing as soon as you start riding and moving the bike.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"*SURLY* straggler (50)\" idea came from mountain biking doesn\u2019t mean I\u2019m insisting that it has to be used on an MTB.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">It could be great on a flat-bar gravel bike, or even on a fixed-gear bike for trying out wheelies.
