Some Rivendell frames come with headsets, bottom brackets and seatposts.

When using all the included parts, you could build up the bike slightly less expensive and for those of you who like to build your bikes on your own, the headset and bottom bracket being installed maybe a huge help. The 26.8mm seatpost being included is also helpful, since it is a pretty less common size seatpost from today’s standard.。

The bottom brackets they have including to frames recently are Shimano UN 110mm. You can put Silver cranks or Sugino Mighty cranks without a fuss.

You may need to swap the BB depending on the cranks you want to use, even though you want to use the included one.

The headsets they usually include is the silver FSA headsets. They’re pretty nice. I personally do not recommend uninstalling a new headset to swap to a Chris King headset. (This FSA headset breaks when removing, so it’s basically like throwing away a brand new headset)

And I think using the stock parts until it breaks is the coolest thing you could do on a Riv.

However…

For the seatpost, I always like to switch it out to Nitto posts. Please forgive me for contradicting. It’s just my preference.

Not sure I can explain this with words, but swapping to Nitto posts gives the bike a sharper look. I like to call this the “secret ingredient of bikes”

All my Rivendells have Nitto seat posts.

My Appaloosa has the S65 a.k.a. the Ritchey Type

*RIVENDELL* A. homer hilsen (54.5)
Type 83 (my current favorite) is on my Homer.

I know I said not to swap the headset from the stock, and now I’m saying to swap out the seatpost. I’m sorry.

Please hear me out.

Left : stock post  Right : Nitto post  Can you see the difference?

Look at how different it looks! The bike looks more sexy.

You’re probably right, if you thought it’d be a waste to just throw money for something you’ll already get with the frame. But, look at the bike from the disctance.

Can somebody relate?

Nitto helped us making the S65 and the 83 seatpost in 26.8mm. I hope they come in good use for Riv builds.
